Nice to meet you here.
I’m Anchen Coetzee (26), a Cape Town-based artist and illustrator painting my way through the city and beyond.
I’m drawn to a wide range of subjects, with a special love for landscapes across our beautiful South Africa.
I also have a particular interest in painting vintage cars, a passion rooted in my father’s love for collecting them. That connection has shaped the way I see detail, character, and history in every piece I get to create.
My love for art has always been with me - a gift and a passion I believe comes from God. It has lived in me since childhood, even before I understood it as a possible career. Now, I can’t imagine doing anything else.
For me, painting is not about simply copying what I see. It’s about capturing what I feel in the moment and translating that onto canvas. There is art in everything around us, and my role as an artist is to bring that to life - to reflect God’s creation through my art. An opportunity I thank Him for daily. Because through all the trails and tribulation, He carried me back to Him and back to the work that makes my soul feel alive again.
This is more than a journey, it’s a calling, and I hope somewhere in my work, you find something that feels like it was always yours to begin with.
